The Holiday season is here. For some it’s a time of excitement, others it feels like a painful chore – and most fall somewhere in between. It’s a time of year that can easily get busy and harried and stressful.

holiday to do listBut what if this year you actually increased your holiday joy? Is that even possible?

Here’s a question to consider:

“If you could script your holiday to be unreasonably phenomenal, how would it go?”

Let this be an excercise in s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-ng as far as your mind and heart will let you.

“As creators, your reality depends upon what you are willing to imagine and allow.”

~Abraham Hicks

As you begin to imagine what you want your experience to be, and how you want your holiday to flow, your internal voice may be saying: “Be realistic.” “That’s impossible.” “Be reasonable.” “That goes against tradition.” “You’ll never succeed.” “Don’t rock the boat.” And the list goes on…

Despite this inner change-resistant dialog, allow yourself to see it in your mind’s eye. By engaging with this question, you will activate your power and your awareness to both SEE and to CREATE new levels of what’s possible.

‘Tis the season … for self-care!

Have you put YOU on the list yet?

Experiment with fresh approaches and open up to new ways of being this holiday. Here are some of the things you can experiment with:

  • Simplify
  • Re-examine some of your assumptions
  • Try new things
  • Tell the absolute truth, regardless
  • Remove sources of stress
  • Dream more
  • Redesign how you spend your time
  • Say “no, thank you” more
  • Get the support you need to handle challenges
  • Raise your personal standards

Let’s face it: Life takes emotional, intellectual, and physical energy – and the holidays are no exception.  It’s so important that you take extraordinary care of your health and emotional balance, this holiday season, and everyday.

Only you know what this looks like, but allow this to be an opportunity to go further than you ever have in this regard. A place to start is to develop a list of 10 daily habits that keep you well.

Some of these habits may be:

  • Walking or exercising
  • Eating more vegetables
  • Meditate
  • Start being early
  • Read
  • Under-promise
  • Listen to great music
  • Take vitamins
  • Floss
  • Handle an unresolved issue
  • Write in your journal
  • Call a friend
