How do you get mail if you live full-time in an RV?

I get asked this question – a lot.

Here’s the skinny:

There are several mail sorting, scanning, and forwarding services out there – Escapees Club, MyRVMail, and Traveling Mailbox are a few examples.

I do not, however, use any of them.

My strategy has been, first, to go paperless with as much of my mail as possible (all of my banking and bill paying is done online, I cancelled magazine subscriptions, etc.).

Any remaining mail is sent to a family member’s address (my domicile) who, once a month, sends it in one of the pre-paid Priority Mail envelopes I supplied her with, and addresses it to wherever I happen to be at that time.  It’s also where I’m registered to vote, have a driver’s license, pay taxes, etc.

As a business owner, another step I took was to authorize any mail sent to me from the IRS, to also be sent to my CPA. (If this interests you, contact the IRS for the necessary paperwork to set this up.)

That’s it. Pretty simple stuff.

I’ll also add here that Amazon ships to Amazon Lockers, making ordering things online (and picking them up) super easy as well.

How to get your mail is just ONE of so many important questions you need answers to before hitting the road.

Living a nomadic lifestyle is a dream that many share, yet so few actually DO it because fears about the unknown and all the “what ifs” that pop to mind too often stop the dream in its tracks.

Lord knows, spending endless hours googling questions certainly isn’t the fastest or easiest way to get road-ready for all things logistical, mechanical, lifestyle, and social either! 🙅‍♀️

Want to learn how to make this dream real and live nomadically – for a month, a season, a year, or forever?

The trick to go from THINKING about it to DOING it is not to get overwhelmed researching, digging, and following a bread-crumb trail of information.

In fact, that usually ends up just endlessly postponing the date of the adventure!

Sure, you could spend weeks or months gathering information, watching travel YouTubers, and ending up on the 14th page of search results for “ultimate packing lists” and “RV mechanics” for the 14th time…

OR…

Fast-track a freedom-based lifestyle and skip the (costly) rookie mistakes by getting everything you need – ALL IN ONE PLACE – with Nomadic Living 101.

My wish for YOU.

Want to know what I wish for you this year?

First, I’m so grateful for you. I am truly delighted that you and I are connected. And this year I’m on a mission — to touch more lives than I have in all of the 15+ years I’ve been in business, combined. It all starts right away, today, with YOU.

Because, you know what I wish for you??

Well, for starters … all. things. good.

My personal life’s mission and my business’ mission are one-and-the-same: To help YOU live your dreams & create a life and business that you don’t need a vacation from.

I want YOU to be so delighted by your life, and your life’s work, and have it all feeling so good, and all working so well for you, and supporting your dream lifestyle so beautifully … that you don’t feel antsy, or irritated, or longing to get away from it all. You aren’t itching for an escape.

(Vacations can be great, but what’s even better is when everyday life is so life-affirming, and gratifying, and so incredibly joy-filled that you don’t *need* a vacation. My wish for you is an existence so delightful that, when you DO take a vacation, you won’t feel an ounce of dread or remorse when it’s time to return to your everyday life…)

Here’s more of my wishes for YOU:

==> I wish you all the joy and delight you can stand.

==> I wish you to know and experience the ease, fun, and abundance that comes with working smarter, not harder.

==> I wish you to have a life (and business) that delights and supports you so much, that you don’t need a vacation.

==> I wish you wealth on your own terms. (yes, money – but money is only part of the picture)

==> I wish you the freedom to travel, adventure, and work from whereever and whenever you want.

==>I wish you the peace and ease of being authentically and uniquely YOU, and getting paid for it.

==>I wish you to feel unapologetically good — in your body, heart and mind — every single day.

==> I wish you the kind of love, health, kindness, abundance, and joy that naturally fills you, expands, overflows, and is cause for celebration.

==> I wish you to love your life so freakin’ much that you truly can’t wait to get-up-and-out-of-bed in the morning.

THIS IS WHAT I DO. This is how I live, and this is what I help others create and experience.

The Expanding Tara-tour-y!

If you’ve been following my recent journey, you know that I’ve embarked on an exciting new adventure in nomadic living and remote working. Together with my boyfriend and dog, we are on an open-ended road trip in our 20-foot RV/mobile tiny house.

Last week we were lakeside in northern North Carolina [enjoying sunsets, campfires, simplicity and peaceful serenity while we did our work and followed the rhythms of nature]. The week before, we were in Richmond, VA [went salsa dancing, went on a walking tour of the Liberty Trail, ate yummy falafel, and on Sunday tooled around an artsy little area called Carytown …with no cares about time or to-do’s – the way Sunday is supposed to feel but honestly hadn’t in years…]

And now we’re in the Raleigh/Wake Forest area staying with my step-sister Kellie and her delightful family. Well technically, we’re their driveway neighbors since we brought our house with us and hooked it up to their water and electric. And today, my friend, soul sister, and mastermind colleague, Marcy, had me over for a delicious homemade lunch. So good to see her!

If home is where the heart is, than my home spans continents. I chose this nomadic lifestyle, in part, because it means I can visit friends and family that I don’t get to see very often. It’s a real treat to be getting some in-person time with people I missed, and feeling right at home.

It’s part of what I’m calling ‘The Tara-tour-y’. Get it?

I’m on tour, and I’m my own agent. Our loose plan is to head south and then west.

Want to join the tour?

Want to meet for a bite, and maybe an interview? Want to host us in your driveway? Want to help me line up a book signing in your town? Or a workshop in your living room? Let me know! Let’s see what we can do to coordinate our paths crossing…

Here’s to the unfolding journey!

[nō-ˈma-dik] What does it mean to YOU?

Nomadic [nō-ˈma-dik]: adj. Relating to, or characteristic of, being on the move.

What does it mean to be nomadic?

First and foremost, we believe “nomadic” is a state of mind.

To be nomadic is to be a mover and a shaker, regardless of where you are.

It’s about moving from within.

It’s about doing what it takes to move forward: from where you are currently, to where you’re headed.

It’s about momentum, action, movement, adventure, and inspired living.

It’s about trail-blazing.

It’s about the exploration and discovery of twists in the road and new horizons ahead.

It’s about living without regret.

It’s about challenging the “status quo”.

It’s about rewriting the rules.

It’s about immersion into new experiences.

It’s about following where an idea leads.

It’s about believing in your dreams and taking action on behalf of your deepest desires.

It’s about embarking on a brave personal journey, an exploration of what’s around the bend, beyond the horizon, and above the clouds.

==> Do YOU consider yourself to be nomadic? Why or why not?

Travel far enough to meet yourself

“In that moment, I felt I had no history, no reputation, no expectation, and no obligation to be who I had been yesterday.”

travelfarenough How far would YOU travel to meet yourself?

For me, “far enough” was Australia.

The year was 1996. I was 20 years old and on a 16 hour flight from Los Angeles to Melbourne, Australia, when, in an instant, I was moved to tears by a realization, sparking a profound sense of personal freedom: NO ONE, in the entire country that I was on my way to, where I would spend the next 6 months, had any preconceived notion of who I was.

Forty thousand feet in the air, this was a time-stopping awareness for me.

And seeing as the woman seated next to me on the plane ALSO had no preconceived notion of who I was, I allowed myself to simply feel the profundity of this unexpected realization.

I was caught off guard as tears of relief streamed down my face and a warm opening was happening in my chest.  Sitting on that airplane, I was struck by a sudden and life-altering realization of a new kind of freedom.

I grew up in a really small New England town where everyone knew everyone. Every trip I went on up to that point, was with people I knew. Some high school classmates went to the same college I did. Not bad things – but up until this singular moment on the plane, I had never known the experience of not being known.

In that moment, I felt unleashed … from history, from expectations, from obligations. Nothing required that I be who I had been yesterday.

It was a freedom I had never known before.

There I was, traveling solo, luggage in tow, enroute to a new land, for a 6 month journey.

I had never before known the experience of others not having any preconceived expectations about who I am.  I suddenly had – and was – a blank slate. Free of expectations or preconceptions, I could be just me – whoever that was.

I traveled far enough to meet myself. I was FREE.

christmasI wiped my tears and smiled at the lady in the seat next to me.

Little did I know, she would end up hosting me, opening her home along with her family of five, for a full week during a visit I’d make to Brisbane that December. She even invited me to stay for Christmas, insisting that I should be with a family. I was touched, but I declined, having made plans to meet my “framily” of other international students who’d agreed to meet on Bondi Beach in Sydney for Christmas (think: Christmas in a bathing suit, with a santa hat).  🙂

All this to say ….

If you want to get closer to the truth of yourself: travel.

And travel plus coaching is a truly life-altering combination!

It really can’t be understated: the combo of the two is the ULTIMATE opportunity to grow and to meet yourself: as an individual, as a citizen of the world, as a nomadic soul.

The possibilities are boundless.

So, here’s a question to seriously consider:  Who do you think YOU would be, if no one knew who you were?
